About Craniosacral Therapy

With light touch, we encourage life-giving energies, fluids, and health to flow freely within you

CST is a form of bodywork that promotes healing by using light touch to release tension in the body and down-regulate the nervous system.  It originates from Osteopathic principles and focuses on supporting balance and changes in the fluid body (cerebral spinal fluid/blood, lymph, energetic fluency), central nervous system, spine and structures of the cranium, face, and pelvis. This often involves the decompression and mobilization of joints or soft tissue work.

CST modality relieves stress by encouraging a parasympathetic system response essential for healing.  It is effective for improving cognitive function and sleep, releasing shock/trauma/stuck emotions from the body, and unwinding tension/musculoskeletal patterns that contribute to pain, restriction, and many common ailments.

We will work together to restore your body’s resources for healing and balance. Our systems are always pointing us toward health, are in constant communication, and collaborating to create optimal functioning and expression. The intelligence of the body directs many processes through fluid, energy, neural, and chemical pathways. It is my job to serve as your companion, to listen and collaborate with this intelligence. My approach is a balance of biomechanical and biodynamic principles and techniques.

CST is also great for prevention, acute situations, or to complement traditional methods of medicine. CST can teach you how to listen to your body so you can be a part of your own healing.

Some techniques will not be used when there is a recent brain hemorrhage, stroke, spinal tap, fractures of skull, or conditions where there is extra intracranial pressure.

My teacher is Lauren Christman, who further developed Ursula Popp’s Certification program. This program is rooted on the philosophy and methods of Doctors A. T. Still and William Sutherland. Treatment principles and methods are also deeply influenced by the work of Ida Rolf, John Upledger, Hugh Milne, Jean-Pierre Barral and select biodynamic approaches.

My practice is a client centered, health and wholeness oriented, manual therapy with somatic, nervous system support. The work focuses on natural pain relief for chronic pain, stress, trauma, concussion, headache, jaw, neck and back pain, vertigo, and more. Intra-oral techniques can be used for treatment of jaw, tongue and facial muscles. Other techniques may include visceral manipulation, energy healing work, or movement. CST can speak to the many dynamic layers that make us human beings.

Let’s work together!

I’m here for all of you—to provide a safe and comfortable environment.

We all bring different histories, gifts, and challenges to the spaces we inhabit.  To best serve you, I am committed to lifelong learning and supportive action for systemic change. Our work together is meant to counter stress—its causes and impacts—in order to heal both the individual and the collective.
